Factors related to determining the service life of conveyor belt

1. Driving roller diameter

When the Conveyor Belt passes around the roller, bending stress will occur, causing belt core fatigue. The smaller the diameter, the greater the bending stress. Obviously, increasing the drum diameter will help improve the service life of the conveyor belt. However, after it increases to a certain value, the bending stress will not be significantly reduced, and it will also increase the size of the equipment. Therefore, in order to ensure that the bending stress of the conveyor belt is not too large, the generally small diameter of the roller should be limited. 

 

2. The roller forms a groove angle

The groove angle of the idler roller must be consistent with the groove-forming capacity of the selected conveyor belt during design. This principle should also be followed when replacing a new conveyor belt during use. Usually the groove angle of the roller is 30°. , when the conveyor belt groove performance is good, it can be increased to 35°.

 

3. Transition distance

The conveyor belt section between the head and tail rollers of the conveyor and the first set of load-bearing rollers is called the transition section. To prevent the local elongation of the edge of the conveyor belt from exceeding the elongation rate of the conveyor belt, the length of the transition section should not be too small. For fiber core conveyor belts, the transition section length is 1.3 times the distance between rollers.

 

4. Radius of convex arc segment

When there is a convex arc section on the conveyor line, there is also a large tensile stress on the edge of the conveyor belt when it passes, causing premature failure of the conveyor belt and rollers, so the radius of the convex arc section should not be too small. When using steel rope core conveyor belts, the radius of the convex arc segment should not be less than (75~85)B.

 

5. Feeding device

Whether the structure of the feeding device is reasonable or not largely determines the service life of the conveyor belt. The speed and direction of the material fed to the conveyor belt should be approximately consistent with the belt speed; the drop of the material should be minimized, In particular, it is necessary to prevent large pieces of material from falling directly.
